2011: Cox will not wrestle for the Cowboys this season to focus on his Olympic wrestling career.

2010-11: Wrestling in his home state, Cox crafted a solid first season in UW's starting rotation. He started his redshirt freshman campaign at 125 pounds, but moved to 133 in mid-January to finish with a 25-13 overall record, including 10-6 in duals. He notched seven pins, three technical falls and two major decisions to go with a 5-7 mark against the WWC.

Cox opened the season with a third-place showing at the Cowboy Open and placed sixth at the Kaufman-Brand Open, before winning the UNK-Loper Open with five-straight victories, including two pins. He also placed third at the Reno Tournament of Champions to help UW to a team title, before the dual season began.

Cox went 8-6, including three technical falls, in January and February during the heart of the dual season. He wrestled at 125 at the Virginia Duals, before moving to 133 down the stretch. He ended his season with an 0-2 showing at the West Regional.

2009-10: With Martinez solidly in place at 125, Cox redshirted in his initial year with the Cowboy program. In open events, he racked up a 20-4 record, with five pins, three technical falls and five major decisions.

He was named Outstanding Wrestler in the amateur division of the Cowboy Open. In addition to that win, he placed first at the Northwest Wyoming event and the Utah Valley Open, where he was also the OW.

High School: A four-time Wyoming state champion at Campbell County High School, he has a career high school record of 161-2, undefeated as a sophomore and junior. Cox won the 4A state title at 112 pounds his last three years and earned the top spot at 103 pounds as a freshman.

He is a two-time FILA World Team member and wrestled in the Junior World Championships in Beijing in 2007. Cox won the 110-pound division at the High School National Wrestling Championships in 2008.

Heavily recruited, Cox chose UW over Minnesota and multiple other schools. He also lettered in football as a sophomore and junior.

He was the 2009 Wyoming Sports Hall of Fame Athlete of the Year.

Personal: Tyler is one of three children of Richard and Jodie Cox. His older sister is Kristy and his older brother is Brandon. He was born Dec. 15, 1990 in Glendale, Ariz. Tyler is a criminal justice major at UW.
