2010-11: Pfeifer redshirted his first season with UW, while wrestling to a 17-9 record in six open tournaments at 197 pounds. He collected three pins and went 1-1 versus the WWC. In the classroom, he was named to the WWC Coaches' Honor Roll.

Pfeifer opened the season with third at the Northwest Open and followed with second at the Cowboy Open and fifth at the Kaufman-Brand Open, but failed to place at the UNK Loper Open and Utah Valley Open. He ended his season with third at the Rocky Mountain Open. His longest winning streak of the season was six matches.

High School: Pfeifer was a three-time Wyoming High School State Champion. He wrestled for Hulett High School at the 2A level and won his state championship bracket as a senior, junior and sophomore at 215 pounds. He finished third as a freshman at 189 pounds.

A multi-sport athlete, Pfeifer was also named All-State for three years in football and was a Wyoming State Champion in the shot put for Hulett's track and field team.

Personal: The son of Bill and Jeani Pfeifer, Leland was born on Jan. 13, 1992 in Gillette, Wyo. He has one sister, Mariel. His college major at UW is geology.
